How awesome it is to re-read the gospels and be reminded of the life of Christ. I think the danger is that you only reflect on stories from the 4 books you have read long ago, and not take time to spend the time on those pages as part of your daily devotion now. In the last few months I decided to commit myself to spend time journeying through the gospels all over again. I recommend it!
The way Jesus engages with the disciples, provides space for people who seek him out and especially his communication style is awesome to me.
In Luke 10:38-41 we read about how Jesus was invited to Martha’s place. While there, Martha’s sister Mary sat at the feet of Jesus and listened to what he said. Martha was distracted and got caught up in making the place presentable. She was so task focused that in her frustration she had a word with Jesus and pretty much tells him to tell Mary to get off her butt and give her a hand. Mary wasn’t pulling her weight!! (exactly what I would have done! lol)
Verse 41- “Martha Martha, you are worried and upset about many things, but few things are needed, or indeed only one”. Wow, that’s pretty full on, I mean it sounds like it is said in a loving way but you don’t have to be too smart to understand the meaning behind the words. Hopefully Martha did allow herself to be present with Jesus in the end.
My prayer for you this week is that you don’t get caught up so much in the stuff that “needs” to get done, so much that you miss what is right in front of you. Instead, Slow down and learn to be present in each moment, as its during these times that Jesus may have something awesome to reveal to you.
Have a great week!
I see a male version of Martha in me. May I slow down and just be with Jesus.

Thank you! A timely message indeed and one that has prompted me to re-read my own “At the Feet of Jesus” devotion. Thank you, brother. Keep shining His light!
