Come to who, not a what

Come to me, all who are weary and heavily burdened (by religious rituals that provide no peace), and I will give you rest(refreshing your souls with salvation). Take my yoke upon you and learn from me (following me as my disciple), for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest (renewal, blessed quiet) for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light. Matthew 11:28-30 AMP

Come to…what? Church? Temple? Ritual? Sacrifice? Poverty, Penance, or pilgrimages? Good deeds? Spiritual Enlightenment? Come to religion? No, Jesus beckoned, “Come to me.” There’s nothing wrong with church, or church activities, or good deeds, or spiritual maturity – as long as they remain secondary to the invitation of God : “Come to me”. – Charles R. Swindoll

There will be lots of invitations today and this week that will want your attention, but only one will give you both the awesome rest and learning you really need.
