The Lord is close to the Brokenhearted, he rescues those whose spirits are crushed – Psalm 34:18
Our culture routinely interprets losses as alien invasions that interrupt our “normal” lives. We numb our pain through denial, blaming, rationalizations, addictions and avoidance. We search for spiritual shortcuts around our wounds. We demand others take away our pain. Yet we all face many deaths within our lives. The choice is whether these deaths will be terminal (crushing our spirit and life) or open us up to new possibilities and depths of transformation in Christ. – Peter Scazzero, Emotionally Healthy Spirituality
Lord God we are thankful for your mercies that are new each day, and that our difficult times and trials do not have the last say. Please help us to make that choice to see the many deaths we experience as opportunities to know you more, strengthen our walk in Christ and to show mercy to the people we cross paths with day to day.
