Without it, we would waste away

Lord, the feelings are not the same, I guess I’m older, I guess I’ve changed. And how I wish it had been explained, that as your growing you must remember, that nothing last’s, except the Grace of God, by which I stand, In Jesus. I know that I would surely fall away, except for Grace, by which I’m saved.

Lord, I remember that special way, I vowed to serve you, when it was brand new. But like Peter, I can’t even watch and pray, one hour with you, And I bet I could deny you too. But nothing last’s, except the Grace of God, by which I stand, In Jesus. I’m sure that my whole life would waste away, except for grace, by which I’m saved. But nothing last’s, except the grace of God, by which I stand, in Jesus. I know that I would surely fall away, except for grace, by which I’m saved. Keith Green – Grace by which I stand

I remember back in back in the year 2000, my first year of knowing Jesus. I was working with a dude who one day asked me if I had heard of Keith Green. I hadn’t. He then said that he was going to give me the book No compromise to read, and after I had finished he was then going to give me a bunch of Keith’s music to listen to. I still remember hearing it for first time like it was yesterday, and how much it impacted me. Wow!

Have you heard of Keith Green? If you have, what’s your favourite song? If you haven’t, then I highly recommend you read the book no compromise and listen to the music he produced.

Lord God, thank you for Christian musicians past and present who have helped us worship you. Like psalmist’s, they have communicated things we haven’t been able to, and like Prophets, they have used words to changed our direction. We are thankful that you bless us with people who use their gifts so well and encourage us to draw closer to you. – Amen

    1. At the beginning I was like ‘yep you’re growing old’🤣🤣 before I realised you were quoting someone. Great words indeed. Where will we be without the grace of God! Never heard of the guy nor the book.

I really like the prayer at the end. I don’t think I have ever prayed a prayer like that. But I should. Very thoughtful of you.

  1. As a matter of fact THIS is one of my favorite Keith Green songs – and I think I have every one of his albums. It is such a real message, unlike some of the happy-happy-happy songs that don’t address what happens when the euphoria wears off. There was a point in my life where I was hanging on by a thread, and this song reminded me that what mattered was TRUTH, not my feelings.
I am reading “Why Should the Devil Have All the Good Music?” It’s a book about the life of Larry Norman, the “father of Christian rock.” It’s VERY interesting.
