The War Within (2014) is a Christian Drama/Fantasy movie that follows a married couple navigating a difficult season of their life, that also gives a snapshot of what is happening internally for the husband.
Michael, the main character is a cartoonist, who with his wife, are struggling to keep their marriage going while they each deal with their own demons. All the while we get a unique glimpse into Michaels internal world, where his Heart, Conscience, Will, Emotions, Mind and Memory all struggle to find the peace he once had. As Michael’s journey unfolds, we see that his relationship with God has suffered during tough times and there is an invisible battle to remember what’s most important.

I like this movie because we get to see the battle that the main character is experiencing in his soul. It’s a great perspective of the battle that we all experience within as we go through life’s ups and downs while following Christ. We witness Michael having some career challenges, while at the same time carrying a mixture of grief, remorse and sadness, especially with what has happened to his marriage.
Why should you watch this?
As I mentioned earlier, this story shows a unique perspective of the internal battles while living with the complexities of life. As a follower of Christ, you are not immune to the war within your soul, so watching this will give you some insight that you may have never seen before.
If you are a christian who has ever struggled with remembering your first love, has experienced of loss and has fought hard to save a relationship, then this a powerful movie that will challenge and encourage you. This would not be suitable for young kids, but I would highly recommend it to adults, teenagers and families.
My final thought.
I have watched this movie twice and would watch it again. The War Within reminds the follower of Christ of the importance of remembering their first love, and paying attention to those feelings of internal battles.
