Are you submitting to the word to let it guide your steps and direct your path?
Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path – Psalm 119:105
There have been seasons in my life when I have allowed addiction to guide my steps. Moments of anxiety or sadness where the word was the last place I turned to, and instead I let my mood do the leading.
When I think of a biblical example of someone who allowed the word light their path, Josiah comes to mind from 2 kings. When he heard the words of the law he tore his clothes, enquired of the Lord and made drastic changes to please the Lord.
On the flip side, Jonah not only strayed from the path that was provided to him but he also fled from the light that was to lead his steps to do what God had asked him to do.
Are you following in the steps of Josiah or Jonah?
The church must regularly check what is guiding our steps because it is very easy for us to stray from following Jesus.
If you are in a season of ignoring Gods lamp and light, and are allowing other things to direct your life, then I urge you to return to where God wants you. You can take steps like asking God to show you if you have strayed from following him or have a chat with a fellow believer who will be honest about what they can see in your life.
Lord, thank you that your word is a lamp and a light to help guide us in life. I pray that we submit to your word and that we would do all we can to not stray from it. In Jesus name, Amen.
